Khulna city in Bangladesh has seen a significant law enforcement operation, with a special joint drive arresting 59 individuals. The operation, which ran from Thursday night until Friday evening, is part of an intensified crackdown on crime, specifically targeting violence, drug trafficking, and extortion.

Among those arrested are two close associates of a top-listed gangster known as "Grenade Babu": "Kosai Liton" and Rifat. According to additional commissioner Mohammad Rashidul Islam of the Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP), the ongoing operation is aimed at 834 listed suspects across the city. This includes 181 alleged criminals, 584 drug dealers, and 69 extortionists operating within the jurisdiction of eight police stations.

This intensified effort follows separate operations conducted by the southern division of KMP from Wednesday night to Thursday afternoon, which led to the arrest of 63 suspects. During those earlier drives, police also recovered a locally made weapon and seized 11 motorcycles and a pickup van, indicating a broader push to curb criminal activity in the region.
