The government has established a cabinet committee tasked with reviewing and finalizing the draft of the Visa Policy 2026. Chaired by Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, the committee aims to refine the policy before presenting it to the cabinet for approval.

The committee, formed via a gazette notification issued by the Cabinet Division, will receive secretarial assistance from the home ministry. Its members comprise ministers responsible for home affairs, foreign affairs, civil aviation and tourism, commerce, law, justice and parliamentary affairs, and education, along with the executive chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority.

According to the notification, the committee's primary responsibility is to scrutinize and finalize the "Visa Policy 2026." It possesses the flexibility to co-opt additional members if deemed necessary and will convene meetings as required to fulfill its mandate.

The refined draft policy is slated to be presented before the cabinet during its first meeting in the upcoming month. This initiative underscores the government's efforts to update and streamline its visa regulations.
