Hanufa Begum, a victim of a severe blast in Bangladesh's Barishal district on August 3, has died from her injuries. She passed away on Wednesday while receiving treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka, according to family members and police.

Her son, Jamal Howlader, confirmed her death, stating that her body would be transported to their home for burial. The incident occurred early on August 3 in Dudhal Mou village when a loud explosion rocked the house of Shah Alam Howlader. Hanufa, her husband Shah Alam, their daughter Iti, and grandson Fahim all suffered severe burn injuries.

Locals initially rescued the injured and took them to the upazila health complex. Due to the severity of their conditions, they were transferred to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barishal. Subsequently, the district and divisional administrations arranged for their transfer to Dhaka for advanced medical care. While Iti and Fahim have since recovered, Hanufa, who sustained the most critical burns, succumbed to her injuries.

Jamal Howlader has filed a case with the Bakerganj Police Station against unidentified individuals, accusing them of explosion and attempted murder. Bakerganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Adil Hossain confirmed Hanufa's death and stated that the police are investigating the incident with due importance. Barishal Divisional Commissioner Khalil Ahmed expressed deep sorrow over Hanufa's death, noting that the administration would cover the treatment costs of the injured, even though the other victims had recovered.
