Oborevwori Inaugurates Political Appointees, Charges Them on Integrity, Accountability

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has sworn in newly appointed political officeholders, charging them to maintain the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and accountability in their public service. The governor emphasized that these appointments are crucial for reinforcing governance structures and driving equitable development throughout the state.

During the inauguration ceremony in Asaba, Governor Oborevwori administered the oath of office to Mr. Brave Enodeh and Mr. Moses Ogodo as Commissioners and members of the State Executive Council. Additionally, Mr. Cosmas Igbenije was appointed to the Governing Board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), while Chief Joseph Ojobu, Chief James Obeuwou, and Mr. Fun-Ebi Edonyabo joined the Delta State Judicial Service Commission.

Oborevwori noted that Enodeh and Ogodo were appointed to fill vacancies left by former commissioners who resigned to contest elections for the Delta State House of Assembly. He stressed the importance of the appointees demonstrating strong leadership and an unwavering commitment to their duties to bolster democratic institutions within the state. Their roles, he added, extend beyond policy creation to ensuring transparency and fairness in the commission's operations, aiming to inspire public confidence and support the administration's MORE Agenda.

The tenure of the current DESOPADEC Governing Board was recently extended by one year to ensure continuity in the implementation of ongoing programmes and the effective discharge of the commission’s statutory responsibilities.

Congratulating Mr. Igbenije on his DESOPADEC appointment, the governor urged him to justify the trust placed in him through dedication and commitment to developing oil-producing communities. He highlighted the current DESOPADEC board's recent one-year tenure extension to ensure program continuity and effective execution of responsibilities. The board has reportedly achieved significant milestones in infrastructure development, including roads, schools, markets, health centers, and electricity projects across oil-bearing communities. Oborevwori expressed confidence that the board would build upon these successes by expanding infrastructure and human capital development, encouraging continued community involvement in decision-making to ensure projects align with local aspirations.

Addressing the new members of the Delta State Judicial Service Commission, Governor Oborevwori stated that only individuals of proven integrity and unquestionable character are entrusted with the constitutional duty of overseeing judicial officers' appointments, promotions, discipline, and welfare. He urged the commission to carry out its responsibilities with fairness, impartiality, and transparency.
