Odor Leads Police to Deceased Retired Teacher in Turkey

A foul odor emanating from an apartment in Düzce, Turkey, led police and firefighters to discover the body of a 68-year-old retired teacher. Residents of the Aziziye neighborhood alerted authorities after noticing the smell from Hüseyin Taraf's ground-floor apartment.

Initial concerns focused on a possible natural gas leak, prompting emergency responders to cut off the gas supply to the building. However, their investigation soon pinpointed the source of the odor to Taraf's residence. Upon entering the apartment, they found that Taraf, who lived alone, had passed away.

Neighbors reported that Taraf, a retired teacher, was last seen on the first day of the holiday, when he exchanged greetings with them. His body was transported to the Düzce University Hospital morgue for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death, following an initial examination by the prosecutor's office.
