'Odyssey' Dominates Box Office, Surpasses 3 Million Viewers

Christopher Nolan's latest directorial venture, 'Odyssey,' is experiencing a dominant run at the South Korean box office, crossing the 3 million viewer mark just 10 days after its release. The film maintained its top position on Friday, drawing 329,050 viewers and bringing its cumulative audience to 3,179,793.

'Odyssey,' Nolan's 13th feature film, is a reinterpretation of Homer's epic poem, 'The Odyssey.' It chronicles the arduous journey of Odysseus, the king of Ithaca, as he strives to return home following the Trojan War. The film boasts a star-studded cast, with Matt Damon portraying Odysseus, Tom Holland as his son Telemachus, and Anne Hathaway as his wife Penelope. Robert Pattinson and Charlize Theron also feature in the ensemble.

A notable aspect of the film is its production, being the first in cinema history to be entirely shot on IMAX film, resulting in approximately 640 kilometers of film stock. This technical achievement contributes to the immersive viewing experience that has captivated audiences.

In the box office rankings, 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day,' starring Tom Holland, secured the second position with 154,951 viewers on Friday, reaching a total of 6,666,492 cumulative viewers. The Japanese animated film 'Detective Conan: The Angel of High School' followed in third place with 28,804 viewers, and Uhm Jung-hwa's 'Okay Madam 2' took fourth with 26,242 viewers. Domestic animation 'Hatchi the Angel: Legend of the Whale Jewel' ranked fifth.

Advance ticket sales further underscore 'Odyssey's' popularity, with the film holding a commanding 66.7% of the market share as of Saturday morning, with 1,062,886 tickets already reserved. 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' followed with 18.7% of advance bookings.
