Ogun LG chair rallies support for Tinubu, Yayi, backs Abiodun

The re-election bid of our President Bola Tinubu is already 50 per cent achieved due to his governance record.

The Tinubu Support Organisation (TSO) in Ogun State is launching a robust campaign to ensure President Bola Tinubu secures a second term in office and to back Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, for the governorship in 2027. Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo, the Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government and Ogun State Coordinator for TSO, is spearheading this initiative, aiming to significantly boost voter turnout from the approximately 400,000 votes recorded in 2023 to a target of one million in the next election cycle. This ambitious goal is a direct response to the concerning issue of voter apathy that Oyegbola-Sodipo highlighted.

The same applies to Senator Solomon Adeola, who has been positioned as the party’s governorship candidate based on his track record.

Oyegbola-Sodipo expressed confidence in President Tinubu's economic reforms, asserting that they are already laying the groundwork for national growth and recovery, thus meriting his re-election. Similarly, Senator Adeola's track record is presented as a strong foundation for his positioning as the party's governorship candidate. The TSO's strategy involves intensive grassroots mobilization, reaching out to every ward and household across the state to encourage voter registration and participation, emphasizing unity and commitment among party members.

However, we face voter apathy. In the 2023 presidential election, we recorded about 400,000 votes, representing roughly 11 per cent of registered voters. This must change in 2027, and that is why we are targeting at least one million votes.

The call for increased youth involvement in political mobilization was echoed by Olamide Lawal, Special Adviser to Governor Abiodun on Youth Affairs. Lawal stressed that youths constitute a significant portion of the population and should be at the forefront of election efforts. He also urged party leaders to reciprocate this engagement by ensuring youth inclusion in governance, commending Oyegbola-Sodipo for championing this cause and encouraging other political figures to create avenues for youth contribution to national development. This focus on grassroots engagement and youth participation underscores a local understanding of electoral dynamics in Nigeria, where active mobilization is key to overcoming apathy and securing electoral success.

We must remain united and committed, moving from neighbourhood to neighbourhood and house to house to mobilise support for the APC. We must ensure we obtain our voter cards and use them to return the party to power in 2027.
