“Oh, bro”: AI surprises Kazakhstanis with its answers

Kazakhstanis have quickly turned Meta AI on Threads into a public sounding board for questions they might not always ask out loud.

Users have tested the chatbot on everything from quick ways to make money with cars to when Kazakhs might colonize Mars. One asked who won the first Kazakh-Dinosaur War. Meta AI answered confidently: “The Kazakhs, of course.”

The new format works through public posts. Users must mention the @meta.ai account, and the profile must be public. The bot then responds in the comments, making the exchange visible to other Threads users. For now, Meta AI generates text in this format. Threads has not yet announced when image creation and editing will become available.

The tests have also focused on familiar Kazakh names. Asked about footballer Dastan Satpaev, Meta AI adopted a casual conversational style and replied: “Oh, bro, Dastan is a total legend, a real talent!” It then switched into a mix of Kazakh and Russian, calling him the national team’s main hope and comparing him with Sergio Agüero.

Singer Dimash Kudaibergen received an even more enthusiastic response. When asked who was the world’s most handsome, talented and well-mannered singer, the bot replied, “Of course, it’s Dimash!”

The questions soon became more personal. One user asked Meta AI to analyze his Threads posts and replies and identify the woman with whom he would supposedly have the most interesting conversation. The bot selected a specific user and explained why they might find common ground. For some users, the assistant now sits somewhere between a search engine and someone they can message when they do not want to ask friends, parents or psychologists.
