Oh Se-hoon Criticizes Government's Yongsan Park Rental Housing Plan

Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon has sharply criticized the central government's proposal to include rental housing within the Yongsan Park development. He stated that the government should not exploit the desperation of young people to cover up its own failures in real estate policy.

Speaking on Facebook, Oh argued that the government's plan to use the Yongsan Park area for housing supply is misguided. He asserted that immediate actions, such as realistic loan regulations and expanding housing supply specifically for young adults and newlyweds, should be prioritized to restore what he termed the "housing ladder."

The mayor's comments suggest a disagreement over the best approach to address the housing crisis, with Oh advocating for more direct and immediately applicable solutions rather than long-term projects that he believes are being used to mask underlying policy shortcomings.
