Ohtani hits season's first multi-homer game, but Dodgers fall to sixth straight loss

Shohei Ohtani achieved his first multi-homer game of the season, blasting his 25th and 26th home runs against the Chicago Cubs. This performance boosted his batting average to .297, but it wasn't enough to end the Los Angeles Dodgers' slump.

The Dodgers fell to the Cubs 7-6 in a game where Ohtani was a standout. He hit a solo home run in the first inning off Cubs starter Shota Imanaga and added a crucial two-run homer in the eighth inning. Ohtani finished the game with three hits in five at-bats, driving in three runs and scoring two. This marked his first multi-homer game since September 8 of the previous year.

Despite Ohtani's offensive heroics, the Dodgers could not overcome the deficit. The team's inability to score further after Ohtani's late home run contributed to their sixth consecutive loss. The Dodgers, who lead the National League West division, now have a record of 69 wins and 46 losses.

Meanwhile, the Chicago Cubs secured their third straight victory, improving their record to 66-49 and solidifying their second-place position in the National League Central. Cubs pitcher Shota Imanaga, despite giving up a home run to Ohtani, pitched effectively for five innings, allowing only one run and earning his eighth win of the season.
