Okpebholo Mocks ‘Dancing’ Adeleke, Says Osun Governor Misses Meetings

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo launched a sharp attack on Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, deriding his frequent public dancing and accusing him of neglecting his gubernatorial duties. Speaking at a campaign rally for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun, Bola Oyebamiji, Okpebholo urged voters to accept any money offered by rival parties but ultimately vote for the APC.

Okpebholo repeatedly mocked Adeleke's dancing, suggesting it had become a significant distraction from the essential business of governance. "Before somebody sign (sic) paper, he will dance. Are you not tired? For four years, this man has been dancing," Okpebholo told supporters. He further claimed that Adeleke's alleged tardiness, often due to his dancing, meant he frequently missed crucial meetings with other governors in Abuja. "I was asking my friend and I said, I can’t even remember when I saw this man in our general meeting in Abuja. Before he even enter (sic) the plane, he will dance. Before he get (sic) there, we are closed," he stated.

The Edo governor implored the electorate to reject the Accord Party administration, arguing that the best way to address a non-performing government was to vote it out. "A government that is not working, the best gift for him is to send him out of that state," he declared. He also advised voters to "chop (sic) that money from them but don’t vote for them," referring to potential financial inducements from opposing parties.

Drawing a parallel with the recent Edo governorship election, Okpebholo linked Adeleke to former Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, whom he claimed had already been rejected by Edo voters. "That man is Obaseki’s friend. You know we kick (sic) Obaseki out of Edo. So, we have to kick his friend out of this place too," he asserted. Okpebholo then endorsed Oyebamiji, describing him as the candidate capable of bringing meaningful development to Osun State, promising improved infrastructure and prosperity.
