Okpebholo promises five-minute response to security threats in Edo

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has promised residents that security agencies will respond to threats anywhere in the state within five minutes.

His Chief Press Secretary, Patrick Ebojele, said the governor made the commitment during a service at Living Faith Church, also known as Winners Chapel, on Sapele Road in Benin City. Okpebholo said his administration would improve security within the next month and would soon publish dedicated emergency numbers for residents in distress.

“We will continue to work for Edo people. In terms of security, Edo will be safer in the next month. We will be able to respond to security threats in any part of the state within five minutes,” he said.

Okpebholo said the government aimed to leave Edo safer than it found it by tackling kidnapping, robbery and other criminal activities. He also said residents should be able to live and conduct business safely across the state.

Pastor Emmanuel Ebiye praised the governor’s development agenda and thanked him for donating rice, cooking oil and other food items to churches for distribution to members. Okpebholo later visited Rock of Ages Christian Assembly International, where General Overseer Charles Osazuwa said the 2027 general election would be peaceful and Nigeria would remain united.

Osazuwa urged Nigerians not to heed what he called prophecies of doom about the country. He also encouraged Christians to acquire skills and urged leaders to invest in human capital, citing scholarships he received under the administrations of Obafemi Awolowo and Ambrose Alli.
