Oktoberfest beer prices rise, with liters costing up to 15.90 euros

Visitors to this year's Oktoberfest in Munich will face higher prices for a liter of beer, with costs ranging between 14.80 and 15.90 euros. This represents an average increase of 2.38 percent compared to last year's prices, which were between 14.50 and 15.80 euros.

The price of beer at the world's largest beer festival is a topic of significant public interest and often sparks political discussion in Munich. The beer served at Oktoberfest is specially brewed for the event, containing more extract and being stronger than standard lagers. Prices for non-alcoholic drinks have also risen; a liter of water will cost approximately 11.13 euros, a mix of cola and orange juice 12.84 euros, and lemonade 12.47 euros.

Despite the increased costs, organizers remind attendees that free drinking water fountains are available throughout the festival grounds, a practice maintained for several years. While the City of Munich organizes Oktoberfest, it does not set the beverage prices. Instead, the city reviews the prices set by restaurateurs, comparing them to those in local establishments. For context, a liter of beer in Munich's pubs and bars currently costs between 7.70 and 13.40 euros.

This year's Oktoberfest is scheduled to begin on September 19 with the traditional tapping of the first beer keg and will conclude on October 4. Organizers anticipate approximately six million visitors from around the globe during the festival's duration.
