Oldest Mesoamerican Medical Book, 1552 Aztec Manuscript, Arrives at UCR

The "Libellus de Medicinalibus Indorum Herbis," an Aztec manuscript dating back to 1552, represents the oldest known medical text from Mesoamerica. This invaluable relic of health, a testament to the advanced knowledge of indigenous peoples, was generously donated by the National Academy of Medicine. Its arrival at UCR is a momentous occasion for researchers and students alike, offering unparalleled insights into pre-Columbian medicinal practices.
