Olympic Badminton Champion Wang Chi-lin Endorses Hsinchu County Sports Games

Olympic badminton champion Wang Chi-lin is lending his star power as the ambassador for the upcoming Dajia Three Town Sports Games in Hsinchu County. The event, hosted by Baoshan Township, is scheduled for June 27 at Baoshan Junior High School, followed by the Green Bamboo Shoot Festival on June 28.

Baoshan Township Mayor Chiu Chen-wei is celebrating the upcoming installation of YouBike stations in the township by incorporating a low-carbon commuting carnival. He invited Wang Chi-lin to make a surprise appearance as a YouBike ambassador, drawing national attention to the event. Chiu highlighted Baoshan's strong connection with Wang and his doubles partner Lee Yang, noting that he had invited Lee to give a sports promotion talk in Baoshan even before they won Olympic gold.

I used to ride YouBike often for training, and sometimes the team would adjust training by cycling from Xindian to Tamsui. I think cycling is a way to relax and adjust. I heard Baoshan will have YouBike soon, which is great, and I want to see the scenery my wife endorsed.

Wang's involvement stems from his wife, Chen Shih-yuan, and her twin sister Chen Shih-ya, who filmed a promotional video for Baoshan at the Twin Wells last year. Wang mentioned his own use of YouBike for training and relaxation, expressing interest in seeing the scenery his wife promoted. He also indicated he might attend the sports games if his training schedule allows.

The Dajia Three Town Sports Games will feature 12 competitive events, expecting over 2,000 athletes from the Dajia, Beiji, and Nanzhuang townships. The event aims to foster a "Northern Dajia, Southern Liudui" Hakka sports identity. The festivities include an athletes' night on June 27, followed by the Green Bamboo Shoot Festival, a flea market, and a performance by the Paper Windmill Theater Company in the evening.
