Olympic gold medallist Arshad Nadeem seeks to repeat history at Commonwealth Games

Pakistan's Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem is setting his sights on repeating history at the Commonwealth Games, scheduled to begin later this month. Nadeem, who clinched the javelin throw gold in Birmingham in 2022 with a remarkable throw of 90.18 meters, is determined to bring home another victory.

To fine-tune his performance, the 29-year-old athlete is traveling to Switzerland on Monday for an international competition. This event serves as a crucial precursor to the Commonwealth Games, which will be held in Glasgow from July 23 to August 2. Nadeem views these pre-Games competitions as essential for assessing his current form and readiness.

"I participate in an event before any big contest, which gives me an idea about my strength and preparation," Nadeem explained after his final training session in Lahore. He noted that his 92.97-meter throw at the Paris 2024 Olympics, an Olympic and Asian record, demonstrates his continued prowess. Nadeem's strategic approach, combining rigorous training with preparatory competitions, underscores his ambition to once again stand atop the podium.
