Oman Air and Salam Air announce new CEOs

Oman Air has announced the appointment of Nasser Al Sharji as its new Chief Executive Officer, with the transition taking effect on September 1, 2026. Al Sharji is set to bring extensive expertise to the role, backed by more than 25 years of executive leadership and operational excellence across key sectors including aviation, logistics, and oil & gas government services.

His previous senior leadership positions include roles at ASYAD Group, OQ, and Nama Water Services, where he spearheaded major national projects and organizational transformation initiatives. Most recently, Al Sharji served as the Chief Executive Officer of Transom Handling and Acting Chief Executive Officer of Oman Airports Management Company. He holds an Executive MBA and has participated in various board and committee roles across multiple sectors.

His Excellency Saeed Al Mawali, Chairman of Oman Air and Oman’s Minister of Transformation, Communications and Information Technology, expressed confidence in Al Sharji's appointment. "Nasser brings extensive leadership experience, a strong understanding of the aviation sector and a proven track record of leading organizations through transformation and change," Al Mawali stated. "We are confident that, under his leadership, Oman Air will continue to build on the significant progress achieved in recent years and further strengthen its position as Oman’s national carrier."

Al Mawali also took the opportunity to thank Con Korfiatis for his leadership as Oman Air's CEO since May 2024, acknowledging his contributions during a critical transformation period. Under Korfiatis's tenure, the airline made strides in financial sustainability, operational efficiency, and organizational effectiveness. Korfiatis will continue to support Oman Air as an Advisor to the CEO, ensuring continuity. In parallel, Salam Air has appointed Eng. Yaqoob Al Kiyumi as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective October 1, 2026.
