Oman and Rwanda: Expanding horizons for a promising partnership

Oman and Rwanda are turning long-standing diplomatic ties into a broader economic partnership, linking Oman Vision 2040 with Rwanda Vision 2050.

The two countries are expanding cooperation across trade, investment, technology, logistics and tourism. High-level visits, business exchanges and sector agreements have accelerated the relationship, with four cooperation agreements signed in January 2026.

The agreements cover logistics services, dry ports, supply chains, data centres, cloud computing, artificial intelligence projects and airport management. They also aim to improve air connectivity between Oman and Rwanda.

Trade links have grown alongside the official cooperation. More than 80 leading Omani companies took part in the Omani Products Exhibition in Kigali, presenting food, plastics and construction materials. The event helped Omani businesses reach new markets in Rwanda and the wider East African region.

It also produced commercial agreements covering exports of Omani industrial goods and the registration, marketing and distribution of Omani pharmaceutical products in Rwanda. Direct flights between Muscat and Kigali have further strengthened links, supporting travel, tourism, trade and investment. The two countries are presenting the expanding relationship as a model of cooperation between the Middle East and Africa.
