Oman completes breakwater rehabilitation project in Tiwi

Oman has completed a significant breakwater rehabilitation project in the Niyabat of Tiwi, South Al Sharqiyah Governorate. The OMR2.9 million initiative, executed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, reached 100% completion.

Eng. Abdulnoor Issa Al Balushi, Director of the project, highlighted its dual purpose: bolstering the fisheries sector's infrastructure and ensuring the safety and sustainability of maritime activities. The project specifically aims to shield the coastline from strong waves and tidal surges while upgrading fishing and mooring facilities.

Rehabilitation works included reinforcing the breakwaters and enhancing maritime navigation, directly contributing to the safety of fishermen and the preservation of marine resources. This project aligns with the Sultanate of Oman's broader efforts to develop its fisheries sector infrastructure and improve ports and coastal harbors nationwide.
