Oman launches second 'Engineer It with Artificial Intelligence' competition

Oman is fostering innovation in artificial intelligence with the launch of the second "Engineer It with Artificial Intelligence" competition. The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology initiated the program, which brings together 25 teams composed of developers, designers, and innovators from across the Sultanate.

The competition, running from July through September 2026, centers on Agentic AI. This advanced AI paradigm involves creating autonomous systems that can make independent decisions and execute tasks to achieve specific goals. The program includes intensive training bootcamps, workshops, and mentorship sessions aimed at enhancing participants' skills in building AI-driven solutions.

Participants will gain hands-on experience in designing and developing AI solutions, applying Agentic AI principles to real-world problems, and effectively utilizing data for model development. They will also learn about product development, feasibility validation, and refine their presentation skills for pitching innovative ideas.

A unique aspect of this year's competition is a dedicated track that utilizes the National Open Data Portal. This allows teams to leverage real-world datasets to develop solutions addressing national challenges, thereby generating value for Omani society and its economy. The competition will conclude with final pitch sessions where teams present their projects to a panel of experts for evaluation.
