Oman-Saudi committee advances economic, trade and industrial cooperation

Oman and Saudi Arabia have signed an executive programme covering economic and planning cooperation from 2026 to 2028, as both countries seek to turn joint initiatives into operating projects and programmes.

The agreement was signed during the seventh meeting of the coordination committee for economy, trade and industry in Salalah. The committee works under the Oman-Saudi Coordination Council and brought together officials and representatives from relevant entities on both sides.

The historical relations connecting the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia represent a firm foundation for elevating cooperation toward broader horizons.

Ghalib Said Al Maamari, Oman's undersecretary for commerce and industry at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, said the two countries' historical ties provide a firm basis for expanding cooperation. He said the meeting would evaluate initiatives, review achievements and set priorities using a clear approach aimed at producing tangible added value.

The meeting aims to evaluate initiatives, assess achievements, and identify priorities to transition from the stage of ideas to actual implementation of projects and programmes according to a clear methodology that achieves tangible added value.

Rakan Trabzoni, Saudi undersecretary for international economic affairs at the Ministry of Economy and Planning and head of the Saudi delegation, described the meeting as part of continuing efforts under the joint council. He pointed to the growth of initiatives, customs facilitation and shared logistics infrastructure, which he said had supported higher trade exchange and sustainable development.

Officials also discussed progress on joint initiatives, recommendations and steps to speed implementation and reduce obstacles. The talks included possible agreements, memorandums of understanding and proposals designed to broaden cooperation and deepen economic ties.
