Oman, Sri Lanka discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation

The Sultanate of Oman and the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka convened in Muscat for their fourth round of political consultations, signaling a commitment to deepening bilateral relations. The meeting, held on Monday, saw high-level representation from both countries.

Sheikh Khalifa Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs, led the Omani delegation, while Aruni Ranaraja, Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, chaired the Sri Lankan side. The discussions centered on reviewing the existing bilateral relationship and identifying avenues for enhanced cooperation across key sectors.

During the session, the two sides reviewed the course of bilateral relations between the two countries, and discussed ways to enhance cooperation in areas of common interest, particularly economic, investment, tourism, and cultural fields.

Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening collaboration in economic, investment, tourism, and cultural domains. Both sides expressed a shared interest in exploring new horizons for partnership that would serve their mutual interests. The consultations also provided a platform for exchanging views on a range of regional and international issues of mutual concern, underscoring a coordinated approach to global affairs.

Both delegations reaffirmed the significance of ongoing consultation and coordination between their respective foreign ministries. They committed to actively working towards new avenues of partnership that not only benefit their nations but also contribute to enhancing security and stability at both regional and international levels. The session concluded with several officials from both sides in attendance.
