Oman steps up preparations for active participation in COP31

Oman has begun organizing its national effort for COP31, bringing together the teams that will manage its negotiations, media presence, pavilion, youth participation and innovation work at the climate conference.

The Environment Authority held the first workshop in Muscat to assess the teams’ readiness, review their action plans and clarify responsibilities. The Oversight and Governance Team presented a framework for supervision and follow-up, with the aim of integrating the work of the different groups.

The Negotiation Team outlined preparations for the climate talks, including coordination of Oman’s national positions and monitoring priority issues. The Media Team presented plans to highlight the Sultanate’s climate initiatives, sustainability projects and messages for local, regional and international audiences.

The Pavilion Team discussed preparations for an Omani pavilion that will showcase national experience, projects and climate solutions. The Youth Team will focus on the role of Omani young people in climate action, while the Innovation and Indicators Team will address innovation and the measurement of indicators linked to the participation goals.

The workshop also covered logistical support and technical coordination. Organizers stressed the need for the teams to work as one and maintain integration across the negotiation, media, organizational, youth and innovation tracks as Oman prepares for the various stages of COP31.
