Omar McFarlane named CEO of Pure National Limited

Omar McFarlane has been named the new chief executive officer of Pure National Limited, Jamaica's premier ice manufacturer. The company, which also produces popular brands like Happy Ice and Happy Water, faced a significant setback in November 2024 when a fire destroyed its Kingston production plant. This incident forced Pure National to import ice to meet demand.

McFarlane's appointment signals a new chapter for the company as it undertakes a substantial rebuilding process. Pure National has invested around $400 million into reconstruction, which includes the installation of a new 70-ton Paktol ice maker. This new equipment is expected to enhance production capacity, allowing the company to produce even more ice than before the fire.

With a career marked by success in both business and sports, McFarlane brings a unique skill set to Pure National. He previously served as operations manager for the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF), where he managed strategic planning and logistics. Additionally, he is the president and owner of Arc Electric, Inc., demonstrating his experience in building and running a company from the ground up. His background in leadership under pressure is seen as crucial for guiding Pure National through its recovery and future growth.
