OMEGA Speedmaster 'Moonwatch' launches 7 new models with return to round sub-dials

Swiss watchmaker OMEGA has unveiled seven new additions to its Speedmaster 38mm collection, celebrating the "Moonwatch" legacy with designs that blend historical cues with modern sensibilities. First introduced in 1957 for racing and professional timing, the Speedmaster gained legendary status in 1969 when it accompanied Apollo 11 astronauts to the moon.

The latest models are a direct nod to the watch's rich history, featuring a significant design update: the return to traditional round sub-dials, replacing the previous oval shape. This adjustment enhances the watch's professional, sporty aesthetic and improves the legibility of the dial. The bezel also sees a return to a more substantial design, reintroducing the distinctive "Dot Over Ninety" (DON) tachymeter scale, a hallmark of early Moonwatch iterations.

The collection offers a variety of styles, including stainless steel, two-tone combinations with 18K Moonshine™ gold or 18K Sedna™ gold, and two luxurious diamond-set models. The stainless steel version with a black dial is noted for its faithful recreation of the original Moonwatch's pure aesthetic and is the only model in the series without a date display. The two-tone models pair stainless steel with either 18K Moonshine™ or 18K Sedna™ gold, complemented by silver or ivory dials.

Internally, the watches are powered by OMEGA's Co-Axial chronometer movements. Six of the models feature the 3330 caliber with a date function, while the stainless steel black dial model uses the 3332 caliber without a date. Both movements are self-winding and designed to minimize friction and enhance long-term precision. The watches also retain the Speedmaster's characteristic Seahorse engraving on the case back, signifying robust water resistance and quality.
