Ondo APC chieftain dismisses fears over party crisis affecting Tinubu's 2027 chances

Olusola Oke, a chieftain of Nigeria's All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, asserts that internal party conflicts will not deter President Bola Tinubu's victory in the 2027 presidential election. Despite ongoing hostilities within the APC, particularly concerning the overruling of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa's preferred candidates for the National Assembly, Oke maintains the party's strength in the state.

Razaq Obe cannot speak for Ondo APC leaders. There are several leaders in the party, and we all have our individual views on issues affecting the party.

The party's National Working Committee's decision to override the state's candidate selections has sparked protests and heightened fears that Governor Aiyedatiwa and his loyalists might not support President Tinubu. Former commissioner Razaq Obe had previously warned that the unresolved disputes could lead to the APC losing the state, impacting both National Assembly and presidential elections.

While there may be disagreements and differences of opinion, that does not mean that the party is heading for defeat. The APC remains a strong political platform in Ondo State.

However, Oke directly challenged Obe's position, stating that Obe cannot speak for all Ondo APC leaders. He acknowledged that disagreements exist but insisted they do not signal an impending defeat for the party. Oke revealed that he himself experienced unfair treatment during the recent governorship primary but chose to prioritize the party's broader interests and unity over his personal grievances.

I was also cheated in the last governorship primary election in the state, but chose not to allow my personal experience to override the larger interest of the party.
