Ondo APC Denies Plans to Impose Candidates Ahead of Primaries

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has firmly denied allegations that it intends to impose candidates for the upcoming state and National Assembly primaries. These denials come in response to concerns voiced by a faction within the party, known as the 'One Voice Network for Tinubu.' This group has alleged that a list of favored aspirants is being prepared, a move they claim could fracture the party and jeopardize its electoral prospects in the 2027 general elections.

The 'One Voice Network for Tinubu' has specifically warned against sidelining party stakeholders and has accused some aspirants of receiving preferential treatment without adequate consultation. They argue that a lack of transparency in the primary selection process could lead to internal disputes and anti-party activities. The group is urging the state and national leadership of the APC to guarantee a fair and credible primary process for all hopefuls.

In a direct rebuttal, Steve Otaloro, the APC's Director of Media and Publicity in Ondo State, dismissed these claims as unfounded. He asserted that the party leadership, under Hon. Kolawole Babatunde, is committed to conducting a credible and transparent primary election. Otaloro assured all party members that a level playing field would be provided for every aspirant, emphasizing the party's dedication to a fair selection process.
