One child dies and seven people are injured after gas leak in Aubervilliers

A child died and seven people were injured, including two in critical condition, after a gas leak caused a house to explode in Aubervilliers on Saturday evening.

The explosion occurred on Rue Paul Verlaine, according to Sofienne Karroumi, the mayor of Aubervilliers. He reported the death and injuries in a Facebook post early Sunday.

The Seine-Saint-Denis prefecture had warned on X late Saturday of an “incident” on the street and said that a security perimeter had been established. It did not initially specify the nature of the incident.
