One dead in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway truck crash

A tragic accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has claimed the life of a physically challenged beggar trapped under a truck in Ogun State.

The incident occurred early Saturday morning at Car Park C along the outbound section of the expressway. According to the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), the crash involved a Mack truck carrying a container, a loaded DAF truck, and a Toyota bus. Eyewitnesses reported that the Mack truck experienced brake failure while approaching a turning point.

The failure caused the truck to ram into vehicles making the turn, and tragically, it also struck the beggar who was in a wheelchair. The impact resulted in the victim's body being sliced. The outbound Lagos route experienced significant traffic disruption as a result.

TRACE operatives, along with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and police, were on the scene to manage the situation and remove the wreckage. This incident follows a series of multiple crashes on the Kara Bridge section of the same expressway reported on Friday, which caused gridlock and left motorists stranded, resulting in one death and two injuries.
