One dead, three injured in fatal crash on Romania's Sun Highway; traffic backed up for kilometers

A serious traffic accident on Romania's A2 Sun Highway has claimed one life and left three people injured. The collision occurred early Friday morning near Lehliu-Gară in Călărași County.

According to the INFOTRAFIC Center of the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police, the accident happened at kilometer 67 of the Bucharest-Constanța highway. Two cars were involved in a violent impact, which caused one of the vehicles to overturn and leave the roadway.

Emergency services, including police, firefighters, and ambulances, responded to the scene. Medical teams evaluated the four individuals involved. Despite resuscitation efforts, one victim could not be saved, and their death was declared by medical personnel. The other three victims sustained injuries and received medical attention.

The incident significantly disrupted traffic flow. Vehicles were moving on both lanes of the Bucharest-Constanța direction, but a traffic queue of approximately three kilometers had formed. Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact causes and circumstances of the accident.
