One hospitalized after fire in MacPherson HDB flat

A fire in a Housing and Development Board (HDB) flat in MacPherson on Tuesday morning left one person unresponsive and requiring hospitalization. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) responded to the blaze at Block 39 Circuit Road shortly after 2:05 a.m.

Upon arrival, firefighters observed black smoke emanating from the ninth-floor unit. They forced entry into the flat and found the fire, which involved items in the living room, was quickly extinguished. During their search, firefighters discovered an unresponsive person within the living room.

Firefighters conducted forcible entry to gain access into the unit. The fire, which involved items in the living room, was swiftly extinguished.

SCDF personnel immediately removed the individual from the unit and began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The person was subsequently transported to Changi General Hospital. In addition to the rescue efforts, about 80 residents from the affected block were evacuated by the SCDF and the police.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
