One week remains to enroll children in Kyrgyzstan’s first grade

Kyrgyzstan has registered 143,300 children for first grade, with one week left to enroll. The country has allocated 193,300 places for the 2026/27 school year, leaving about 50,000 still available.

Bishkek has accepted 25,400 children. Around 13,500 places are in Kyrgyz-language classes and more than 11,900 in Russian-language classes. About 990 places remain open in the capital.

In Osh, 10,600 children have registered. Of those, about 2,700 are seeking Kyrgyz-language classes, 7,500 Russian-language classes and 410 Uzbek-language classes. Schools in the southern capital still have 2,200 available places.

Electronic enrollment began on April 1. The first stage prioritized children according to their neighborhood registration. Parents can now apply outside their registered area, but only to schools with vacancies. Accepted children must provide original medical and vaccination certificates. The school year starts Sept. 15.
