Only one in three Austrians feels well prepared for natural disasters

Only one-third of people in Austria feel well prepared for natural disasters. The Civil Protection Association wants to respond with a new preparedness app, which could become useful as early as autumn.

Meteorologists are warning of heavy rainfall during the season. Marcus Wadsak recently told Kleine Zeitung that Austria could again face record precipitation, similar to the conditions in 2024.

Those rains caused catastrophic flooding, particularly in Lower Austria. Large areas were inundated, many houses flooded, and some people lost all their possessions and had to move into emergency accommodation.
