OPEC Fund to support priority projects in Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan is seeking international support for its key development projects, with discussions held between the nation's Finance Minister and the Director General of the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID). Ruslan Suinaliev met with Abdulhamid Alkhalifa in Baku on the sidelines of the Islamic Development Bank Group's annual meeting. The meeting focused on prospects for future cooperation and potential OFID financing for priority sectors within Kyrgyzstan. These include the development of transport infrastructure, energy, agriculture, and irrigation systems. Both parties expressed a strong interest in expanding their partnership and continuing dialogue on implementing joint projects. Specific attention was given to significant national initiatives such as the construction of the Kambarata-Ata Hydroelectric Power Plant, the advancement of the national irrigation development program, and the reconstruction of a crucial section of the Bishkek, Torugart road. The discussions signal Kyrgyzstan's commitment to leveraging international financial aid for its strategic development goals.
