OpenAI Files for Public Offering One Week After Rival Anthropic

OpenAI, the company behind the popular ChatGPT, has taken a significant step toward becoming a publicly traded entity. The artificial intelligence giant confidentially submitted an S-1 registration statement to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), a move that typically precedes an Initial Public Offering (IPO).

This development occurs just one week after its close competitor, Anthropic, the creator of the Claude chatbot, announced a similar confidential filing. Both companies are vying for the substantial capital required to fuel their expansion and maintain a leading edge in the rapidly evolving generative AI landscape.
