Operator dies, another injured in Vaca Muerta gas plant accident

A fatal accident occurred Tuesday afternoon at a gas separation plant in the Rincón del Mangrullo block, near Añelo in Argentina's Neuquén province. The incident, located in the Vaca Muerta region, resulted in the death of one operator and injuries to another.

The area is jointly managed by YPF, which is acting as the operator, and Pampa Energía under a 50/50 scheme. Preliminary reports suggest the accident was caused by a strong decompression event within the gas separation plant. Emergency teams from YPF were immediately deployed, and relevant protocols were activated. The situation has since been brought under control.

The identity of the deceased employee has not yet been released. The injured colleague is being airlifted for urgent medical attention. The Union of Private Oil Workers of Río Negro, Neuquén, and La Pampa expressed regret over the incident and offered their support. However, they clarified that the victims were not workers covered by the collective bargaining agreement.
