OPM Attacks Road Workers in Papua, Four Killed

The Papua Merdeka Organization (OPM) is accused of attacking and killing four road construction workers in Tolikara, Papua Pegunungan, on Sunday evening. The incident occurred in the Kali Kabur area of Woniki District, targeting workers from PT Sutan Harauli Jaya, who were engaged in building a road under the Balai Pelaksanaan Jalan Nasional (BPJN) Wamena project. According to the XVII/Cenderawasih Military Command, the attack was carried out by an OPM group led by Botak Wanimbo and Teranus Enumbi. Four individuals, identified as Arman Sibarani, Erlin Aritonang, Barengga (an indigenous Papuan), and Alfonds, lost their lives. Barengga was a local resident, while the others were employees of PT SHJ. Several other workers managed to escape and reported the incident to company officials, who then alerted security forces. Joint TNI-Polri forces, including units from Satgas Yonif 511/DY and Satgas Yonif 136/TS, responded to the scene for evacuation. No security personnel were harmed during the operation. The military command condemned the OPM's actions, stating that the violence against civilians hinders development and welfare efforts in Papua.
