Opposition has no place in Ebonyi, say Yilwatda, Nwifuru

Leaders of Nigeria's ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have emphatically stated that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will not secure any electoral victories in Ebonyi State in the 2027 general elections. The National Chairman of the APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and the Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, jointly declared that the state has no room for the PDP.

We will return President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Francis Nwifuru as Governor of Ebonyi State in 2027. We want to return all APC senators, all House of Representatives members and all House of Assembly candidates in 2027. Nobody has conceded Ebonyi to the PDP. Therefore, there is no vacancy in Ebonyi State. The PDP has no place in Ebonyi, and there is no vacancy at all in the Government House in 2027.

Their pronouncements came during an endorsement rally for President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid, held at the Abakaliki Township Stadium. The event, organized by Governor Nwifuru and Minister of Works David Umahi, also saw the presence of the Governors of Anambra and Imo states, and the Deputy Governor of Enugu State, all expressing support for Tinubu's presidency.

Yilwatda directly addressed and dismissed growing speculation that Ebonyi State might be conceded to the PDP. "Nobody has conceded Ebonyi to the PDP. Therefore, there is no vacancy in Ebonyi State. The PDP has no place in Ebonyi, and there is no vacancy at all in the Government House in 2027," the APC national chairman declared. He urged the state's residents to re-elect President Tinubu and Governor Nwifuru, citing the president's contributions to the state and the South-East region through infrastructure and human capital development.

Ebonyi has no other presidential candidate other than President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and we will return him in the presidential election. We are standing here today to tell the whole world, especially those who have used Mr President’s name to orchestrate division and confusion in this great state, that we have only one party, and that is the APC.

Governor Nwifuru echoed these sentiments, stating that Ebonyi has no presidential candidate other than Tinubu for 2027 and affirming that the state remains firmly an APC stronghold. He specifically refuted claims that President Tinubu had handed the state over to the PDP or its key figures, such as Nyesom Wike. "Ebonyi is not for sale," Nwifuru asserted, emphasizing the party's strong position and popular support within the state.
