Opposition leader renews calls for Labor MP facing charges to be stood down

Opposition Leader Angus Taylor has renewed his calls for Labor MP Luke Gosling to be stood down from his role as special envoy following new charges of breaching bail conditions. Gosling was initially charged with assault in July over an alleged incident at a community event in Darwin.

Taylor stated that the presumption of innocence is important, but Gosling should be stood down while the proceedings continue. "If it was a test then, it's an even stronger test today. He must act. It's completely unacceptable for a second charge to be placed on Luke Gosling," Taylor said. A spokesperson for Gosling indicated that police had not shared details regarding the alleged breach.

This is well understood … All technologies should be available. That's how you get downward pressure on prices," Taylor explained.

This discussion on data centers comes as premiers prepare for a national cabinet meeting where artificial intelligence and energy demands are expected to be hot topics. The federal government's goal is for new data centers to contribute as much energy to the grid as they consume, utilizing both renewables and firming power.
