Örebro Party Triples Support in County and Could Enter Sweden’s Parliament

Sweden could gain a new parliamentary party after the nationalist-populist Örebro Party climbed to 15.1% support in Örebro County, according to a Novus poll published by Nerikes Allehanda.

The result places Örebropartiet level with the Moderates and behind only the Social Democrats, who register 32.8% in the county. The Sweden Democrats stand at 12.6%, while the Örebro Party has risen sharply from the 4.5% it received in the 2022 regional election.

The party has a route around Sweden’s four-percent national threshold. A small party can win a parliamentary seat by taking at least 12% in a single constituency. If the Örebro Party reaches that level in the 2026 parliamentary election, its leader, Markus Allard, would be elected from Örebro County. No party has previously succeeded through that route, although former Christian Democrat leader Alf Svensson came close in 1988 with 10.6% in his home constituency of Jönköping.

The party received five million kronor last year from IT entrepreneur Daniel Berntsson, co-owner of Mullvad VPN, to make a serious effort in the 2026 parliamentary election. Its campaign uses the slogan “Out with the scum! In with Allard!” and blames immigrants, welfare recipients, cultural workers and public employees with what it calls invented jobs for Sweden’s problems.

Its program calls for registering and sorting Sweden’s population by origin, assessing immigrants’ productivity and deporting welfare recipients. It also says an “era of return migration” has begun and proposes removing judges from Swedish courts and replacing them with lawyers who would rule in line with the will of the people. The party is seeking support from Sweden Democrats voters by presenting itself as more radical and confrontational than Jimmie Åkesson’s party.
