  • While no formula lots tested positive for the bacteria, the company is recalling all whole milk powdered products as a precaution.

Nara Organics is voluntarily recalling its powdered infant formula following hospitalizations of three infants diagnosed with infant botulism. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) confirmed the babies, located in California, Washington, and Pennsylvania, had consumed the Nara Organics Powdered Infant Formula. All three infants received successful treatment, and no deaths have been reported.

The formula was available at Target stores nationwide, as well as through Target.com and Nara.com. The FDA stated that the product was not sold outside the United States. Although no specific lots of the formula have tested positive for Clostridium botulinum, the bacteria responsible for infant botulism, Nara Organics is recalling all its whole milk infant powdered formula products as a precautionary measure.

Three specific product lots consumed by the affected babies have been identified: 709125280E14F2, 709125288E14F2, and 708125174E14F2. Consumers can find lot numbers on the bottom of the formula cans. Nara Organics stated in the FDA notice that it is taking aggressive action to ensure product safety and is cooperating with the FDA, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and state agencies in their investigation.

Customers are advised to immediately stop using the affected products. Those who purchased formula from Nara.com between May and June 2026 will receive an automatic refund, while others can request refunds online. Purchases made at Target can be returned to the store or processed for a refund via Target's website. Infant botulism occurs when Clostridium botulinum spores contaminate the intestinal tract, leading to the production of dangerous neurotoxins. Symptoms can include constipation, poor feeding, drooping eyelids, sluggish pupils, low muscle tone, difficulty sucking and swallowing, weak crying, breathing difficulties, and generalized weakness, with respiratory arrest being a potential fatal outcome. Caregivers should contact a healthcare provider immediately if an infant shows these symptoms after consuming the product.

Nara is taking aggressive action to ensure the safety of the babies and families who use the product as we work closely with the FDA, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and state partners to support their investigation into the root causes of these cases
