Óscar Isaac secures second Emmy nomination for Netflix series 'Beef'

Guatemalan actor Óscar Isaac has earned his second Emmy nomination for his performance in the Netflix series 'Beef'. The Television Academy announced the nominations on July 8 for the 78th Emmy Awards, where Isaac is a contender for best actor in a limited or anthology series.

Isaac's nomination recognizes his portrayal of Joshua Martin in the dark comedy. He is nominated alongside Riz Ahmed, Jason Bateman, Charlie Hunnam, and Matthew Rhys. This marks his second Emmy nod, following his first in 2022 for 'Scenes from a Marriage'.

'Beef' has been a significant success at the Emmys, securing eight awards in 2024 and accumulating 16 nominations for the upcoming ceremony. The series, which explores workplace rivalries and the complexities of relationships, features Isaac as a club manager whose life unravels due to manipulation by his employees. The production also stars Youn Yuh-jung as the club's owner.

The series is set to return for a second season, introducing new characters and an original storyline. The upcoming season will focus on a newly engaged couple, Ashley Miller and Austin Davis, who encounter Joshua Martin and his wife, Lindsay Crane-Martin, after witnessing a violent altercation between them. This encounter draws the protagonists into a web of intrigue and manipulation extending beyond their workplace.

Other shows leading the nominations this year include 'The Pitt' with 25 nods and 'Hacks' with 24. Carey Mulligan also received a nomination for best actress in a limited or anthology series for 'Beef'.
