Osh resident accuses investigator of mistreatment

A woman in Osh, Kyrgyzstan, has come forward with accusations of mistreatment by an investigator at the "Sulayman-Too" police station. Orozomat kyzy Meerim claims she was subjected to rough handling and has shared video materials on her social media accounts as evidence.

The Osh Department of Internal Affairs has acknowledged the complaint. According to a statement from the department, the Ministry of Internal Affairs' internal investigations service has conducted a thorough review of the incident. This official inquiry is reportedly in its final stages.

Meerim met with Damirbek Isakov, the head of the Osh Department of Internal Affairs, to discuss her allegations. The department assured that appropriate measures will be taken against the investigator once the official investigation concludes, particularly if it is found that the officer failed to adhere to legal requirements and their professional duties when interacting with citizens.
