Osun disburses palliatives to civil servants

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke's administration has disbursed another round of palliative payments to civil servants, aiming to support public servants and mitigate the impact of economic hardship. Olawale Rasheed, the governor's spokesperson, announced the disbursement on the state's X handle, emphasizing the administration's dedication to worker welfare.

As part of our commitment to civil servants of Osun State, the backbone of our administration, we have once again disbursed palliatives to augment their salaries.

Rasheed stated that the periodic palliative payments were introduced before the implementation of the new minimum wage, positioning Osun as an early adopter of such measures among Nigerian states. This initiative is part of a broader agenda to restore confidence in the public service, boost staff morale, attract skilled personnel, and ultimately enhance service delivery.

Notably, we commenced periodic palliative payments even before implementing the new minimum wage increase, which positioned Osun as one of the first states in the federation to do so.

The government drew a sharp contrast with the previous administration, accusing it of "weaponizing poverty" and withholding salaries and entitlements from civil servants. The current administration asserts its commitment to ensuring public servants are treated with dignity and receive their due compensation.

This stands in stark contrast to the previous administration, which weaponized poverty and systematically deprived civil servants of their earned salaries and entitlements.

The continuous disbursement of palliatives is intended to rebuild trust within the public service, improve morale, and enhance overall service delivery to the state's residents.
