Osun monarchs back lawyer’s Reps bid

Traditional rulers in the Ijesa North Traditional Rulers’ Council, located in Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State, have officially endorsed lawyer Pelumi Olajengbesi's ambition to represent the Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in 2027.

The endorsement occurred during a town hall meeting at the council's headquarters in Iloko-Ijesa, where traditional leaders, community figures, and residents gathered. Olajengbesi, who is running on the platform of the Accord Party, received prayers and a declaration of support from the monarchs.

Oba Ayelabola Oladoyinbo, the Olowena of Owena-Ijesa, speaking on behalf of the council led by Elegboro of Ijebu-Ijesa, Oba Olufemi Agunsoye, expressed confidence in Olajengbesi's ability to serve effectively. "Your aspiration for the House of Representatives in the 2027 election is a done deal. We believe you have what it takes to excel, and you will excel and make us proud," the monarch stated.

Olajengbesi, an indigene of Ijebu-Ijesa, previously vied for the same seat in 2019. He is challenging the long-standing incumbent, Wole Oke of the All Progressives Congress, who has represented the constituency for 24 years. Olajengbesi highlighted the constituency's need for dynamic youth representation and a departure from what he termed the "recycling of old ideas," pledging to champion development programs if elected.
