Osun poll: APC chieftain warns against voter intimidation

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun has issued a stern warning against voter intimidation, urging security agencies to act decisively to protect the democratic process ahead of the state's governorship election. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye emphasized the need for security forces to remain vigilant and professional in safeguarding lives and property throughout the electoral period.

Oyintiloye highlighted that acts of intimidation could undermine the election and discourage citizens from exercising their constitutional rights. He noted the current difficulties many voters face in collecting their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), suggesting that simplifying this process would boost turnout. He encouraged eligible voters not to be deterred by cumbersome procedures or reports of intimidation, urging them to collect their PVCs and participate peacefully.

"No individual or group should be allowed to undermine the democratic process through acts capable of causing panic or discouraging lawful participation in the election," the statement read. Oyintiloye stressed that anyone engaging in violence or disruption must be brought to justice.

Looking ahead to the election, Oyintiloye expressed strong confidence in the APC's governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO). He cited the candidate's widespread acceptance and support across Osun, stating that the enthusiasm shown by residents indicates strong confidence in the APC's platform and a clear path to victory.
