Osun poll: NSCDC vows action against election disruptors

Nigeria's Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) is preparing to decisively confront anyone attempting to disrupt the upcoming Osun governorship election. Commandant-General Abubakar Audi issued a stern warning during an operational visit to the state, emphasizing the corps' commitment to preventing bloodshed and ensuring a secure electoral process.

Audi inspected the security arrangements and met with key stakeholders, including Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The governor expressed concerns about recent security threats from political factions aimed at intimidating voters and urged the NSCDC to deploy adequate personnel to neutralize these threats.

We don’t want any bloodshed. We will decisively deal with anyone who attempts to disrupt the electoral process.

The NSCDC chief reaffirmed the corps' role in protecting critical national assets, including electoral materials and facilities. He assured INEC of full operational support, warning against vandalism and interference with the election. Audi also addressed deployed personnel, directing them to maintain professionalism, adhere to the rule of law, and collaborate closely with sister security agencies, particularly the police, which leads election security operations.

The NSCDC stated its commitment to safeguarding the democratic process and providing a secure environment for a free and fair election. The corps aims to ensure that the electoral process proceeds without violence or disruption.
