Otti hosts Super Eagles Chukwueze, unveils Abia stadium city plan

Abia State Governor Alex Otti recently welcomed Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze to Umuahia, using the occasion to unveil ambitious plans for the development of a new Umuahia Stadium City. The project, which aims to be more than just a sports venue, is envisioned as a comprehensive sports village that will include hotels, residential estates, and other attractions to revitalize the area.

Governor Otti confirmed that the land for the stadium city has been acquired and that the project is currently in the feasibility stage. He expressed confidence that construction will commence before the end of the year. The governor also extended an invitation to Abia indigenes to invest in the state, assuring them that priority would be given to local entrepreneurs.

I'm sure before the end of the year, we will flag off the construction of the new Umuahia Stadium. The land is already acquired, and we are at the feasibility stage. We are not just building a stadium; we are building a stadium city, like a sports village. There will be hotels, estates and other attractions to develop that corridor.

Chukwueze, who visited the governor with friends to express gratitude for Otti's support during his mother's burial, lauded the visible transformation across Abia State. He specifically highlighted the significant improvements in road infrastructure, stating that Umuahia looked "completely different" since his last visit.

I have been seeing the good work the governor is doing. When I came back and saw Umuahia, it was completely different. The roads have improved greatly, and the transformation is visible. He deserves every accolade for the good work he has been doing.

The AC Milan winger also recognized the proposed Stadium City as a crucial investment for the future of sports development in Abia. He believes it will create opportunities for young talents and invigorate sporting activities within the state. Chukwueze pledged his commitment to supporting youth sports development, indicating that he is already working on initiatives to give back to his hometown community.

Governor Otti commended Chukwueze for his football achievements and for being a positive ambassador for Abia State, promising continued government support for his endeavors. He also offered condolences to the footballer on the loss of his mother, urging him to remain strong.
