Over 3.5 Million Moroccans Abroad Returned Home Via 'Marhaba 2026' Operation

The "Marhaba 2026" operation has seen a significant influx of Moroccans residing abroad returning to their homeland. As of Saturday, August 23, 2026, a total of 3,539,761 individuals had arrived in Morocco, marking a 1.24% increase compared to the same period last year, according to data from the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity.

Maritime ports continue to be the primary gateway for these travelers, facilitating 51.25% of all arrivals, which amounts to 1,814,161 individuals. Tangier Med Port led as the most utilized port, receiving 623,094 arrivals, followed by the Nador port with 353,449 arrivals. National airports welcomed approximately 1,725,608 travelers, representing 48.75% of the total transit traffic. Mohammed V International Airport in Nouasseur handled the highest volume of air arrivals, with 438,092 passengers.

The Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity actively supported travelers by providing 50,399 services as part of the "Marhaba 2026" initiative. The majority of these services, totaling 41,486 interventions, involved administrative and legal assistance, as well as responding to inquiries. Additionally, 6,062 interventions were related to medical care and transportation to hospitals. The foundation also assisted 2,373 cases with customs procedures and provided 478 transportation aids.

The return phase of the operation, where expatriate Moroccans travel back to their countries of residence, has commenced via both airports and maritime ports. Authorities are managing this phase, noting smooth traffic flow, particularly at Tangier Med Port, due to effective coordination among stakeholders. A significant increase in departures is anticipated starting Tuesday, August 25. To ensure an efficient return process, a dedicated system for processing departing passengers at Tangier Med Port has been active since August 18 and will continue until September 6.
