Over 5.5 Million Euros Allocated for Kindergartens and Playgrounds in Slavonia

A total of 182 contracts, valued at over 5.5 million euros, have been awarded to 112 local government units across five counties in Slavonia. The funds are designated for the construction, expansion, equipping, and renovation of kindergartens and playgrounds. The ceremony for awarding these contracts took place in Slavonski Brod.

State Secretary Mladen Barać, from the Ministry of Demography and Migration, presented the contracts. He emphasized that this investment goes beyond typical infrastructure projects, representing a commitment to the future of children and families. "Investing in kindergartens and playgrounds is an investment in the future of our communities," Barać stated. He added that each new kindergarten spot and improved play area signals to parents that the state and local communities are creating conditions for quality family life, contributing to balanced regional development and demographic resilience.

Slavonian County Prefect Danijel Marušić underscored the importance of these investments for Slavonia, a region facing significant demographic challenges in recent decades. "Slavonia has enormous development potential, but also the responsibility to provide young families with the conditions to stay," Marušić said. He noted that investments in social infrastructure like kindergartens and playgrounds enhance the quality of the environment for child-rearing and aid in the revitalization of local towns and municipalities.

Demographic data confirms the necessity of such initiatives. Many Slavonian counties have experienced population decline, an aging population, and emigration of younger age groups. These awarded contracts will facilitate projects that improve access to preschool education, enhance the safety and quality of play spaces, and ultimately contribute to better conditions for children's upbringing across Croatia, with a particular focus on revitalizing Slavonia.
